AWOL Snow: Anthony Attalla Artist Profile

Detroit-based producing DJ Anthony Attalla has been making big waves in the dance music industry. Known for his musicality and flawless energetic sets, Attalla, in the few short years of his budding career, has scored residencies at world reknowned clubs, seen his imprint rise to the upper-echolons of dance music labels, and has become a highly in-demand artist for international bookings. But, those things don’t really matter to him. He is one of the rare talents that keep their focus on the music, stating once in an interview, “…production is predicated on the fastest evolving element in our world today — technology — so the learning curve is infinite. The more I learn, the more I realize how much I have to learn.” That’s not to say his production needs work. Quite the opposite as a matter of fact. Attalla has already charted over 30 Top 100 tracks on Beatport. Moreover, labels like Great Stuff Recordings, Definitive Recordings, Tronic, and Global Underground are just a few of the heavyweights seeking his productions.

But Attalla has been working on creating a respected brand himself, with the birth of his imprint, Incorrect Music whose focus releasing tracks inspired by Detroit’s rich techno history. Now that we’re four years within the label’s launch, we’ve seen Attalla sign several chart-topping tracks produced by some of the industry’s biggest names, and newcomers alike. In it’s inaugural year, Incorrect Music had over 40 releases chart on Beatport’s overall Top 100 and signed artists from over 20 different countries.

As a performer, he has been vocal about that as well. “When I perform is truly the only time I can just forget about the world and lose myself,” says Attalla. “It’s almost like I disappear for a few hours and go to a different dimension or universe where I’m oblivious to everything besides my connection to the crowd and my set.” Forward-thinking, distinguished musician and versatile, both Incorrect Music and its frontman, are perfect examples of another way of life. Now a resident DJ of all A.W.O.L.’s brands, we warmly welcome Anthony Attalla for this year’s Another Way of Life: Snow Edition.

AWOL Snow: Donald Glaude Artist Profile

It’s hard to believe that in just two weeks, Another Way Of Life: Snow will be underway in the beautiful town of Whistler, British Columbia. We agree the thought of playing in mountains full of snow is quite exciting, but what about music? As you know, AWOL has booked some amazing, award-winning talent, so why not learn more about them? Donald Glaude is a great start as he has been a pioneer of house music for well over two decades. Taking inspiration musical prodigies like George Clinton and Funkadelic, Glaude immediately drawn to the soulful rhythms and energetic vibe of house. After teaching himself how to mix, with a pair of non-matching turntables and a Radio Shack mixer, Glaude began to DJ at various venues in his hometown of Tacoma, Washington and Seattle, pioneering the DJing style and sound that helped to define the rave scene on the west coast.

Aiding Glaude in sparking Seattle’s party scene was friend, and fellow aspiring DJ, DJ Dan, who, coincidentally, was instrumental in Glaude becoming a permanent fixture at San Francisco’s legendary Funky Tekno Tribe. This gig may have put his name in the lips of many, but Glaude is not the type to want success on a mainstream level. He believes house music should be an experience that provokes the soul, which is another reason why he has an unparalleled ability have an emotional connection with any audience. Whether it’s his exuberant sets or talent on the decks, there is definitely a reason he is called the “James Brown of DJs.” Continuing to be “The Hardest Working American DJ,” we’re excited to host Donald Glaude at this years AWOL: Snow, March 1st-3rd.
